It’s the first Friday of October, World Smile Day!
According to Wikipedia – World Smile Day,
The idea of World Smile Day was coined and initiated by Harvey Ball, a commercial artist from Worcester, Massachusetts. Harvey Ball is known to have created the Smiley Face in 1963. The World’s first World Smile Day was held in the year 1999 and has been held annually since.
After Harvey died in 2001, the “Harvey Ball World Smile Foundation” was created to honour his name and memory. The slogan of the Smile Foundation is “improving this world, one smile at a time.” The Foundation continues as the official sponsor of World Smile Day each year.
The message of the World Smile Day 2010 is “Do an act of kindness. Help one person smile.”
So, let’s make one person smile! Here are some ways to do it:
It’s that simple. When you smile, others smile.
2) Share something that makes you smile.
How about this crazy smiling cat?
3) Leave an anonymous note.
A love note, a thank you note, a message saying “Great Job!”
Leave it to be discovered by someone who needs a smile.
4) Tell a silly joke. A really goofy, silly joke like kids tell.
Q: What did one wall say to the other wall?
A: I’ll meet you at the corner.

5) Leave a generous tip.
For the dry cleaner, the food server, the valet, the hair stylist…
6) Compliment someone sincerely.
7) Perform creative random acts of kindness.

8) Text or e-mail a friend a throw-back photo of the two of you.
9) Laugh lout out loud in a public place.
Keep laughing until everyone around you is smiling or laughing.
10) Tell them to smile.
It’s easy to forget to smile. Tell someone to smile and remind her that her smile is beautiful.
