Keep these 90 and 100 year old Sisters in Touch

grandmaandloisLast week, my 90 year old grandmother finally got to see her 100 year old sister after over a decade apart. Both spry, witty and not looking a day over 80, these two sisters have been kept apart by due to financial restraints. Both widows living alone for decades, thousands of miles apart, they’ve missed one another dearly.

Thanks to saving and the relatives pitching in to help, the trip from Oregon to Indiana was finally made by my grandmother. Sadly, we realize this was likely their last time seeing each other here on earth. But, there are other ways they could continue to be close despite the miles.

We’d love to see my grandmother able to skype, facetime, or otherwise communicate via video with her sister. Both live in apartments in assisted living facilities, but neither has access to internet service. We’re told neither facility provides internet service.

My #WishforOthers from @CapitalOne would be to keep these sisters in touch for the next decade through technology. By providing them with mifis or other internet hotspots and tablet computers, they could be a continuous support for one another and even help other lonely neighbors connect with their loved ones.
